Relationships can be one of the most rewarding parts of life, and one of the most demanding. Sometimes the two people in a relationship are doing their best and still finding themselves stuck, distant, or repeatedly arriving at the same difficult place.
Online couples counselling offers a space where both of you can speak and be heard, with someone who isn’t on either side.
I work relationally, which means I’m interested in the patterns that develop between people, what triggers them, what sustains them, and what might be possible if they shifted. I don’t take sides or assign blame. I’m curious about both of you, and about what’s happening in the space between you.
How it works
Sessions are 90 minutes, held online via a secure video platform, and available to couples across the UK. Evening appointments are available.
My fee for online couples counselling is £120 per session.
Getting started
I offer a free introductory phonecall to both of you together or an individual, so you can get a sense of whether working with me feels right. There’s no obligation.
When the calm voice makes it worse
Maybe you know this one. You’re mid-argument, your partner drops into that calm, reasonable voice, and instead of settling you it winds you up further. You’re left feeling there’s something wrong with you for reacting that way.
There isn’t. When a row heats up you’re not two people having a disagreement any more, you’re two bodies reacting, and a fast, protective part of you is braced for what’s coming. A calm voice doesn’t always read as safety; sometimes it reads as distance. That pattern is learnable, which means it’s changeable.
This is the kind of work I do with couples, in person in Bude and online across the UK. If any of it sounds like you, the first step is a free phone call.
The Pause and Listen tool
Most arguments don’t need a winner, they need a pause. If you keep ending up talking past each other, this free guided exercise helps you slow down, take turns, and feel heard. Try the Pause and Listen tool.
